Diederik Bruggink works at the European Savings and Retail Banking Group (ESBG) and at the World Savings and Retail Banking Institute where he is responsible for all payments and digital finance topics worldwide. In that role, he analyses the multiple dimensions of the payments and digital finance market, proposing and assisting in agreeing member positions with respect to their payments’ and related businesses. He also advocates the associations’ positions on these with policymakers, regulators, standardisation bodies, industry associations, and is enabling a constant member dialogue on developments, with a particular focus on innovation. Further roles he has is Board Member of the European Payments Council (EPC), Chair of the Cash Efficiency Working Group of the EPC and Member of the European Commission’s Payment Systems Market Expert Group, whilst in the past he was a Member the European Central Banks’ Market Advisory Group Digital Euro and he co-chaired the Euro Retail Payments Board (ERPB) working groups on access to and acceptance of cash and on transparency for retail payments end-users.
